Ventolin HFA is used to treat and prevent bronchospasm, i.e., difficulty breathing due to wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, and shortness of breath which is caused by certain lung diseases, such as asthma and COPD, as well as by exercise in some cases. As a bronchodilator, this medication works by relaxing and opening air passages in the lungs.
Common side effects may include nervousness, dizziness, body aches, headache, cold-like symptoms (runny or stuffy nose, sinus pain, sore throat), back pain, upset stomach or nausea, and diarrhea. However, some side effects can be severe and require immediate medical attention.
