Deplin is used to treat adults with folate deficiency, especially acute deficiencies from MDD and schizophrenia. This deficiency can cause hyperhomocysteinemia and anemia.
There are no major side effects of note associated with Deplin. However, seek immediate medical assistance if you experience an allergic reaction, including difficulty breathing, hives, swelling in the face and lips, or swelling in the tongue or throat.
As a brand name for Vitamin B (folates), there are a number of generic and brand name options for Deplin. As a medical food, L-methylfolate can also be found as Zervlax and DuLeek-DP.
