  Cenestin Uses

Cenestin is used for:
Treating a variety of symptoms due to menopause (hot flashes, vaginal itching, burning, dryness). It may also be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor. This medicine is a mixture of estrogen hormones. It works by replacing natural estrogens in a woman who can no longer produce enough estrogen.

  How to use Cenestin

How to use Cenestin:

- Use this medicine as directed by your doctor. Check the label on the medicine for exact dosing instructions.
- An extra patient leaflet is available with this medicine. Talk to your pharmacist if you have questions about this information.
- Take this medicine by mouth with food or immediately after a meal to prevent stomach upset.
- Take this medicine at the same time each day.
- Discuss with your doctor stopping this medicine 4 to 6 weeks before surgery.
- If you miss a dose of this medicine, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.
- Ask your health care provider any questions you may have about how to use this medicine.

  Cenestin Warnings

Important safety information about Cenestin:
This medicine increases the chances of getting cancer of the uterus. Report any unusual vaginal bleeding right away while using this medicine. Vaginal bleeding after menopause may be a warning sign of cancer of the uterus (womb). Your health care provider should check any unusual vaginal bleeding to find out the cause.Do not use this medicine with or without progestins (eg, medroxyprogesterone) to prevent heart disease, heart attacks, strokes, or dementia. Using estrogens with or without progestins may increase your chances of getting heart attacks, strokes, breast cancer, and blood clots. Using estrogens, with or without progestins, may increase your risk of dementia, based on a study of women 65 years of age or older. You and your health care provider should talk regularly about whether you still need treatment with this medicine.

Possible side effects of Cenestin:

- All medicines may cause side effects, but many people have no, or minor, side effects.
- Back pain; bloating; breast pain; depression; diarrhea; dizziness; flu syndrome; gas; hair loss; headache; increased cough; increased/decreased interest in sex; indigestion; infection;
- irregular vaginal bleeding or spotting;
- itching; joint pain; lightheadedness; leg cramps; muscle aches; nausea; nervousness; pain; runny nose; sinus inflammation; sleeplessness; sore throat; stomach pain; upper respiratory tract infection;
- vaginal inflammation;
- weakness; weight changes.
- Severe allergic reactions (rash; hives; itching; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue);
- abnormal bleeding from the vagina;
