Uloric is a xanthine oxidase inhibitor. This medication works by reducing the levels of uric acid produced by the body, which can become concentrated around joints and cause the arthritic heat, pain, redness, and swelling associated with Gout. Uloric is only prescribed to prevent Gout; it cannot treat an episode of Gout that has already developed.
Common side effects of Uloric include: mild dizziness or nausea, mild skin rash, and minor joint pain or stiffness. You don't need to worry about these side effects unless they persist or get worse, however there are serious side effects that require immediate medical attention.
