The active ingredient in this medication (tazarotene) is similar to Vitamin A, and it treats acne by helping the skin renew itself more quickly, which assists in healing and results in smoother skin and fewer blemishes. Avoid getting this medication on skin that doesn't need to be treated. If it does get on clear skin, clean it off immediately.
Common side effects of Fabior include skin redness, mild itching, or other irritation at the application site as well as dry, scaly, or peeling skin. This doesn't need medical attention unless it gets worse or lasts a long time. However, other side effects can be more severe and require your doctor's attention, including: signs of skin infection (swelling with warmth, oozing), severe redness, discomfort, or severe skin irritation, including burning or stinging sensations, immediately after applying the medication.
