Edarbyclor is prescribed to treat hypertension (i.e., high blood pressure). It consists of two drugs: azilsartan (an angiotensin II receptor antagonist which prevents the narrowing of blood vessels, which improves blood flow) and chlorthalidone (a thiazide diuretic, which prevents fluid retention by stopping the body from absorbing too much salt). Treating and preventing high blood pressure can reduce the risk of heart attack or stroke.
Common side effects include dizziness and feeling tired. Rare but serious side effects that require immediate medical attention include a severe allergic reaction (difficulty breathing, hives, swelling in the face or lips, swelling in the tongue or throat), seizure, changes in mood, confusion, restlessness, drowsiness, feeling weak, muscle pain or weakness, feeling as though you may pass out, shortness of breath, weight gain or swelling, dry mouth, fast heart rate, increased or extreme thirst, changes in urination, inability to urinate.
