Disulfiram is used for:
Treating alcoholism. This medicine is an alcohol-abuse deterrent. It works by blocking the breakdown of alcohol, causing unpleasant side effects (eg, vomiting, upset stomach) when even a small amount of alcohol is consumed.

  How to use Disulfiram

How to use Disulfiram:

- Use this medicine as directed by your doctor. Check the label on the medicine for exact dosing instructions.
- This medicine may be taken with or without food.
- This medicine may be swallowed whole, chewed, or crushed and mixed with food.
- Do not take the first dose of this medicine for at least 12 hours after drinking alcohol.
- If you miss a dose of this medicine, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.
- Ask your health care provider any questions you may have about how to use this medicine.
