Brilinta is an antiplatelet medication which works by preventing blood platelets from clotting together and thus causing a heart attack or stroke. It is most often used for patients who have recently had a heart attack, who have angina, or have had coronary stents put in.
Brilinta Side Effects:
Common side effects include mild dizziness, headache, nausea, cough, or diarrhea. However, some side effects can be severe and require medical attention. Contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following: allergic reaction, any bleeding that will not stop, any unusual bruising or bleeding especially if you see pinpoint sized red or purple spots in your skin, pale skin, jaundice, unusual sweating, unusual fever, sudden numbness or weakness especially in one side of the body, sudden and severe headache, feeling short of breath, lightheadedness or feeling as though you may faint, problems with balance or coordination, vision or speech problems especially slurred speech, chest pain or pressure especially spreading to your shoulder or jaw, coughing up blood, vomiting blood or what looks like coffee grounds, red or pink urine, bloody or tarry stool.
