Androderm is a transdermal patch that releases the hormone testosterone through the skin as a form of hormone replacement therapy for men who can't produce enough testosterone due to hypogonadism. Be sure to follow all your doctor's instructions and be careful about who else may be exposed to the testosterone in this medication.
Common side effects include pain and itching or irritation with or without mild blisters at the application site, skin color changes, headache, acne, and swelling or tenderness in your breasts. Some rarer side effects can be quite severe and require immediate medical attention, including: allergic reaction (difficulty breathing, hives, swelling in the face or lips, swelling in the tongue or throat), feeling dizzy or as though you may pass out, slurred speech, difficulty breathing at night, jaundice, rash, chest pain, shortness of breath, swelling in the hands and feet or ankles, lower leg pain especially with swelling and warmth or redness, nausea and vomiting, frequent or sudden need to urinate, difficulty urinating, having an erection more often than normal, or having an erection that will not go away for a long period of time.
Currently, there isn't a generic form or other brand names for Androderm, which is a transdermal patch. However, there are other brands for various types of topical testosterone, including Androgel, Axiron, Fortesta, Testim, and Vogelxo.
