This medication is a topical imidazole antifungal medication used to treat seborrheic dermatitis and its symptoms (scaly red patches and dry skin that flakes, usually affecting the upper back, chest, ears, face, and scalp). It works by inhibiting the growth of fungus on your skin.
Common side effects only need medical attention if they get worse. These can include headache and mild skin irritation, dryness, or itching. However, some side effects are severe and require medical attention quickly, including: signs of a new infection (redness and swelling with oozing and pain), an oily or severely dry scalp especially with hair loss, severe itching or burning where you've applied the medication, eye irritation, or redness with swelling.
