Can I use drug coupons and rebates for mail-order pharmacy?
Using drug coupons with a mail order pharmacy:
Using drug coupons for mail-order pharmacy is iffy. You will need to read the fine print of the coupon carefully to see if it is OK to apply the coupon to mail-order pharmacy. Some coupons specifically state that "this coupon may not be used for mail-order".
If there is no language prohibiting the use of the coupon for mail-order, you may be OK. You need to call your provider and ask. What happens if my mail-order pharmacy does not accept coupons?
Consider having that particular prescription filled in a bricks-and-mortar pharmacy (assuming that your insurance plan allows this). Even though bringing the prescription to a local drugstore usually carries a higher copay, a good coupon will offset the price difference.
Can you use rebates with mail-order prescriptions?
The answer depends on the coupon. In general, you can use rebates if you participate in mail-order pharmacy.
The procedure is the same as when you use a rebate after purchasing A prescription in a bricks and mortar pharmacy. As long as you have an insurance receipt, you should be ok.
Submit the insurance receipt (also referred to as the pharmacy receipt) along with the completed rebate form to the rebate processing facility. As with the other prescription rebate forms, make sure you:
- Fill out the rebate form carefully. - Include the materials the rebate form requests. - Send in the rebate form before the specified expiration time. - Keep records of what you send in.
