Keflex is a cephalosporin antibiotic that works to treat various infections by killing the bacteria causing them. Please note that this medication will not work on viral or parasitic infections.
If you experience any of the following severe side effects, seek medical attention immediately: severe skin reaction, hallucinations, confusion, agitation, easy bruising, red or purple pinpoint dots under the skin, unusual bleeding especially from membranes like the nose or mouth and vagina or rectum, jaundice, severe stomach pain, little or no urination, and watery or bloody diarrhea. Common side effects usually don't need medical attention and may include: headache, tired feeling, dizziness, joint pain, vaginal itching or discharge, diarrhea.
Both a generic (cephalexin) and alternate brands are available for this medication, including Biocef, Panixine, and Zartan. However, be sure to talk to your doctor about the differences between these medications to be sure that you receive the right medication for your needs.
