As a steroid, this medication blocks the release of natural substances that cause certain symptoms associated with dermatological issues (e.g., skin crusting, dryness and itching, scaling, inflammation). It should not be applied to unaffected areas and should not be used more often or for a longer period of time than prescribed.
Common side effects include "pruned" or pale skin, lightened skin color at the application site, folliculitis, acne, increased hair growth, and mild skin irritation (dryness, itching, burning, rash). Contact your doctor right away if you have any rare but serious side effects, including: severe skin irritation or sign of infection (redness or warmth, swelling, oozing), insomnia or unusual tiredness, "puffiness" in the face, weight gain, uneven heartbeats, or vision problems (including blurry vision or light halos).
