Evista is taken to treat or prevent osteoporosis in postmenopausal women. It may also reduce the risk of invasive breast cancer in these women. Sometimes Evista may be prescribed to postmenopausal women without osteoporosis, but who are at high risk for developing invasive breast cancer.
Side effects that may occur from taking Evista include sweating, leg cramps and hot flashes. Tell your doctor if these side effects are severe or don’t go away. Serious side effects that you should report immediately include swelling in the legs or groin area, chest pain, severe headache, confusion, trouble breathing, vision changes, and weakness or numbness on one side of the body.
