Effient is a medication prescribed to prevent blood clots or reduce the risk of thrombosis that can cause heart attacks and strokes in patients with acute coronary syndrome. Effient has been shown to reduce the rate of cardiovascular death and nonfatal heart attacks and strokes.
Effient Side Effects:
Possible side effects from taking Effient include mild headache, dizziness, cough, nausea, back pain, minor chest pain and fatigue. If any of these side effects are severe or persistent, tell your doctor immediately. Other more serious side effects include nosebleeds, bleeding gums, bleeding that won’t stop, unusual bruising or red spots, blood in urine or stools, feeling weak, confusion, numbness or weakness on one side of the body, chest pain that feels heavy and spreads to the arm or shoulder, sweating, vision problems, jaundice and trouble balancing. Tell your doctor immediately if you have any of these serious side effects or go to the hospital. This medication can cause serious and sometimes fatal bleeding. Patients that are under 130 pounds or 75 years of age or older are at higher risk.
