CellCept is sometimes prescribed after a liver, kidney, or heart transplant to keep your body from rejecting the new organ. It works by inhibiting the immune system and preventing the body from interpreting the new organ as an invader. Because CellCept affects the immune system and can make it easier to develop serious infections, patients need to remain under the care of a doctor during their course of treatment.
Tell your doctor immediately if you experience any signs of a new infection, including flu-like symptoms, painful sores, vision changes, painful urination, unusual mental changes, coordination problems, difficulty speaking, or seizures. You should also contact your doctor if you experience easy bleeding or bruising, swollen feet or ankles, changes in urination, muscle weakness, or weakness on one side of the body.
