Advair Diskus is prescribed to treat asthma in patients whose symptoms are not controlled by the use of a corticosteroid alone. It is also prescribed as a maintenance therapy for patients with COPD. This medication should not be used to try to stop an attack once it has started. A rescue inhaler should be provided in addition to Advair.
Side effects from using Advair Diskus include throat irritation, indigestion, headache and hoarseness, body aches and runny nose. If any of these adverse effects are severe or bothersome, tell your doctor. Serious but rare side effects that should be reported immediately include worsening asthma symptoms, vision changes, eye pain, mental or mood changes, signs of infection, fever, trouble sleeping, seizures, white patches in the mouth, chest pain, fainting and irregular heartbeat.
