Lovenox Uses:
Lovenox is an anticoagulant called a low molecular weight heparin, and it prevents the formation of blood clots by stopping the production of certain kinds of substances that can create them. It's used to prevent a pulmonary embolism due to Deep Vein Thrombosis, as well as to prevent blood clots from forming after certain kinds of surgery that require long term bed rest, such as hip or knee replacement surgery. It may also be used to prevent complications associated with angina and heart attack. This medication should only be injected subcutaneously, and it should never be injected into a muscle or vein. Do not have spinal anesthesia or a spinal puncture while taking this medication, as it may cause paralysis.

Lovenox Side Effects:
Common side effects include fever, mild pain or irritation with redness or swelling at the injection site, swelling in your hands or feet, nausea, and diarrhea. However, some side effects may be severe and require immediate medical attention, including: allergic reaction (difficulty breathing, hives with itching or burning, swelling in the face or lips, swelling in the tongue or throat), unusually pale skin, easy bruising especially with pinpoint-size red or purple spots under the skin, bleeding that will not stop, any unusual bleeding from wounds or mucous membranes (eyes, nose, mouth, anus, genitals), confusion, trouble concentrating, vision or balance problems, speech problems, lightheadedness, severe headache, sudden weakness, shortness of breath, rapid heart rate, coughing up blood or vomiting what looks like coffee grounds, tarry or bloody stool.
