Canasa Uses:
Canasa is considered a 5-aminosalicylic acid (5-ASA). It works by preventing the production of certain natural substances which cause colon and rectum inflammation associated with mild or moderate forms of ulcerative proctitis.
For this medication to be effective, a suppository should remain inserted for 1 to 3 hours. Continue using your medication for the full prescribed time even if you start to feel better.
Canasa Side Effects:
Most people have no serious side effects from using Canasa; however, some common side effects are dizziness, headache, mild hair loss, mild stomach discomfort or pain, gassiness, nausea, or diarrhea.
Some rarer side effects may be quite severe and require immediate medical attention, including: allergic reaction (difficulty breathing, rash or hives, swelling of the face or lips, swelling in the tongue or throat), unusual or unexplained bruising or bleeding, jaundice, unusual tiredness, fever with chills, persistent sore throat or headache, shortness of breath, chest pain, loss of appetite, stomach pain especially if sudden and severe, persistent and severe nausea, vomiting blood or what looks like coffee grounds, change in the amount of urine, dark or bloody urine, pale stool.
